This is one day in America, 2025 (April 18, 2025) — and I didn’t even mention tariffs.
Reading the news these days is like watching a pebble, which is already bigger than a pebble, gaining force as it cascades into an avalanche of it’s own rocky and blindingly blizzard-like agenda — and being greeted with cheering from the right as those who fall under get crushed.
Crushing.
Staying informed is critical. Not falling victim to fear, anxiety and brain spasms while consuming said information is challenging.
So many have already spoken to the way-too-obvious signs of fascism and autocracy — I didn’t bother to look up a “king” headline. No need to.
It’s relentless.
I don’t know why, but what finally put me over the edge was this headline: Trump Administration Plans to Remove Habitat Protections for Endangered Species.
We’re talking bald eagles here — the national symbol of the United States — you fuck.
Irony, anyone?
And then the whole Christian prayer and power in the White House crap. Church/state. It’s so hypocritical it’s almost laughable — except it isn’t. I can’t imagine how real Christians don’t feel mocked and horrified. But that’s your fight …

The numbness sets in, and once again, I wonder about the world I brought my son into — purposefully — with a naive belief in humanity, art, culture and kindness, never imagining …
And then Buffalo Springfield starts playing like a dirge in my head. So dated, but so familiar.
The lyrics so apropros after so long.
You’re welcome.
For What It's Worth
… There’s something happening here
But what it is ain’t exactly clear
There’s a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
… I think it’s time we stop
Children, what’s that sound?
Everybody look, what’s going down?
… There’s battle lines being drawn
Nobody’s right if everybody’s wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
… It’s time we stop
Hey, what’s that sound?
Everybody look, what’s going down?
… What a field day for the heat (Ooh ooh ooh)
A thousand people in the street (Ooh ooh ooh)
Singing songs and they carrying signs (Ooh ooh ooh)
Mostly say, “Hooray for our side” (Ooh ooh ooh)
… It’s time we stop
Hey, what’s that sound?
Everybody look, what’s going down?
… Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you’re always afraid
Step out of line, the men come and take you away
… We better stop
Hey, what’s that sound?
Everybody look, what’s going down?
… You better stop
Hey, what’s that sound?
Everybody look, what’s going down?
… You better stop
Now, what’s that sound?
Everybody look, what’s going down?
… You better stop
Children, what’s that sound?
Everybody look, what’s going down?
